Global Fund Board's next Chair and Vice Chair appointed using new selection process
ABSTRACT
The Global Fund Board will shortly have a new chair and vice-chair. On 2 May 2019, the Board appointed Donald Kaberuka as chair and Roslyn Morauta as vice-chair. Each will serve for a two-year term starting from the adjournment of the 41st Board Meeting on 16 May. They will replace the outgoing chair and vice-chair, Aida Kurtović and John Simon, respectively. For this selection, the Board followed a new process that it adopted in May 2018.

The new process for the selection of the Board chair and vice-chair calls for the use of a nominations committee to coordinate the process and for an executive search firm to provide support.The practice of rotating the positions of chair and vice-chair is maintained.

ABSTRACT
The minute her term as Vice-Chair ended, Aida Kurtović started working as the new Chair of the Global Fund Board. Kurtović, the outgoing Vice-Chair, was nominated by the Board’s implementer block for the position of chair. John Simon was nominated by the Board’s donor bloc for the position of Vice-Chair. Both were approved by the full Board.

The Global Fund Board has formally embarked on the process to select a new chair and vice-chair. The results will be announced at the Board meeting on 3-4 May 2017.

The Board’s next executive director will be selected on the first day of a Board Retreat scheduled for 27-28 February 2017. He or she will replace Dr Mark Dybul, whose term ends on 31 May.
