ABSTRACT To mark the occasion of the Global Fund's 20th anniversary, civil society organizations representing several countries in the Middle East and North Africa region designed a travelling exhibition to go from country to country. This ‘caravan’ to celebrate the lives saved by the unique Global Fund partnership was organized by civil society engaged in the fight against the three diseases of AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria. The caravan went to three countries in the region where it provided an opportunity to assess 20 years of work and to discuss the challenges facing the region.

ABSTRACT In March, the Global Fund Board approved two country grants and awarded supplementary funding to a third. Egypt, a non-CCM applicant, received a new TB/HIV grant. The Board also approved a multi-country grant for the Caribbean region, and five sets of interventions from the Register of Unfunded Quality Demand.

ABSTRACT The Office of the Inspector General found evidence of fraudulent practices and other procurement irregularities on the part of the principal recipient for an HIV grant to Egypt, which compromised contracts worth $668,877.

ABSTRACT The Global Fund Board has approved two of the twelve Round 6 proposals whose original rejection had been appealed by the applicants. The newly approved proposals are an HIV/AIDS proposal from Egypt and a TB proposal from Pakistan.
