As the New Funding Model is rolled out, some upper middle income countries that no longer qualify for funding from the Global Fund, feel that the new mechanism ignores the refugee crisis and population movements in the MENA region.
OIG audit: Integration of HIV and TB treatment into Viet Nam’s national health insurance scheme presents challenges and risks
ABSTRACT
The report of the Office of the Inspector General on its audit of grants to Viet Nam was very complimentary of the country’s progress in program impact, financial management internal controls, governance and assurance mechanisms. The OIG praised Viet Nam’s decision to integrate HIV and TB treatment into the national health insurance scheme, but said that the integration presented a number of challenges and risks.

Political instability and continuing economic problems have created a complex environment for programming in Burundi. Malaria and TB/HIV grants recently approved by the Global Fund Board are facing numerous challenges. This article summarizes the comments of the Technical Review Panel and the Grant Approvals Committee when it reviewed Burundi’s funding requests.
Bosnia and Herzegovina hope that low prevalence means low risk
ABSTRACT
Bosnia and Herzegovina will from December 2015 become ineligible for Global Fund financing, presenting a risk to a number of programs that the government has said it may be incapable of finding budgetary resources for. This could have an impact on currently low sero-prevalence rates nationwide, particularly within certain vulnerable populations such as the migrant Roma who live in poverty in informal settlements around the country.
