ABSTRACT According to the Global Fund, by the end of the Seventh Replenishment Pledging Conference in New York yesterday, the organization had received a record number of pledges at $14.25 billion. The full amount required of $18 billion is likely to be met, as some pledges are expected to come in after the Conference. However, pledges from some key European donors were conspicuously absent.

ABSTRACT While successful in raising a large proportion of the hoped-for amount, there is nonetheless a shortfall from the $18 million originally hoped for, which may or may not be reached through later pledges. How then can we do the same or more with less money?
