The Global Fund Board seeks new members for the Technical Review Panel
ABSTRACT
The Global Fund Board has launched a recruitment process for new members of the Technical Review Panel, the independent group of health-care and development experts that reviews funding applications. The recruitment process is being managed by Devex. Applications are due by 15 September 2019.
The Technical Review Panel updated the Board on its 2021 activities and plans for 2022 during the 46th Board Meeting
ABSTRACT
During the recent 46th Global Fund Board Meeting held on 8 to 10 November 2021, the Technical Review Panel updated the Board on its work in 2021 and plans for 2022. TRP reported that it had reviewed and recommended 98% of the allocated funds for the 2020-2022 cycle for funding. It also reported the findings of its assessment of its performance in 2020, its advisory on Global Fund investments in health systems, and a Secretariat-commissioned Advisory by the Office of the Inspector General on its mandate and functioning.
Global Fund Secretariat responds in part to evaluation and audit of its health system investments
ABSTRACT
The Secretariat plans to strengthen the capacity and the voice of “Resilient and Sustainable Systems for Health” in country dialogues, better integrate RSSH into its processes, differentiate and prioritize RSSH investments depending on the country’s development level, increase collaboration with Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, and improve RSSH indicators’ measurement. Those are some of the changes the Secretariat presented at the 41st Board meeting, in response to evaluations and an audit of the Global Fund’s investments in RSSH. The Secretariat remained silent on a couple of other issues.
TRP focuses on gaps in services for key populations in its review of Ethiopia's TB/HIV funding request to the Global Fund
ABSTRACT
When the Technical Review Panel assessed Ethiopia’s recent TB/HIV funding request, it raised concerns about the sustainability of national programs and about gaps in services for key populations. This article summarizes the TRP’s concerns as well as the clarifications provided by Ethiopia’s country coordinating mechanism.

GLOBAL FUND’S TECHNICAL REVIEW PANEL RECOMMENDS 49 REQUESTS FOR GRANT-MAKING IN WINDOW 2
ABSTRACT
At the end of June 2017, the Technical Review Panel (TRP) assessed 54 funding requests submitted to the Global Fund in Window 2 (23 May 2017). Of these requests, 91% were approved for grant-making. The TRP acknowledged the quality of proposals, but noted that community systems strengthening and key populations interventions continue to be under-prioritized or poorly articulated.

When they recommended that the Global Fund Board approve two grants emanating from Zimbabwe’s TB/HIV funding request, the Technical Review Panel and the Grant Approvals Committee lauded the strong focus on key populations, and the inclusion of interventions to address barriers related to human rights and gender.
MALAWI’S TB/HIV GRANTS APPROVED BY THE GLOBAL FUND DO NOT DIFFER MUCH FROM THE FUNDING REQUEST
ABSTRACT
The two TB/HIV grants to Malawi approved by the Global Fund Board closely reflect the funding request submitted last March. The Technical Review Panel, which reviewed the funding request in April and May, requested only minimal adjustments and clarifications. The grants are heavily oriented towards HIV.
