ABSTRACT Following on from an earlier GFO article on the appetite for risk, we argue that challenging operating environments need additional flexibilities to meet their very specific circumstances; added risk for the Global Fund, maybe, but examples from West and Central Africa show that the pay-offs can be considerable.

RÉSUMÉ L’article décrit le projet « Halartar Al’Umma », lancé en octobre 2021 et soutenu par L’Initiative. L’objectif principal de ce projet est de contribuer à la réduction de la morbidité et de la mortalité liées à la tuberculose dans les régions de Dosso, Maradi, Tillabéry et Zinder. Il s’attaque aux barrières liées au genre et aux droits humains et renforce l’approche centrée sur le patient en rapprochant l’offre de services au plus près des populations.

Funding revisions to nine grants from Bhutan, Niger, South Sudan, Tanzania, Turkmenistan

ABSTRACT The Country Coordinating Mechanism evolution initiative is at mid-point. Information from four African countries suggests mixed results: two countries with early signs of success and two where it is too early to measure success, country representatives say. Aidspan’s policy team highlights the challenges and keys to success discussed with representatives from each of the four countries featured in this article.

ABSTRACT In March, the Global Fund Board approved two country grants and awarded supplementary funding to a third. Egypt, a non-CCM applicant, received a new TB/HIV grant. The Board also approved a multi-country grant for the Caribbean region, and five sets of interventions from the Register of Unfunded Quality Demand.

ABSTRACT In the latest batch of funding approvals from the Global Fund Board, three country grants and two multicountry grants were awarded $36 million. The Board also approved funding in the amount of $66 million for interventions on the Unfunded Quality Demand Register. Some of the funding for the UQD interventions came from private sector contributions.

RÉSUMÉ Le 12 novembre 2018, le Conseil d’administration du Fonds mondial a approuvé des financements d’une valeur de 98,0 millions de dollars pour 14 subventions provenant de 13 pays. Il a également approuvé deux subventions multipays d’une valeur de 12,5 millions de dollars et affecté 13,6 millions de dollars au financement d’interventions placées sur le registre des demandes de qualité non financées. Cet article fournit des renseignements sur le nombre de demandes de financement traitées, le nombre de subventions approuvées ainsi que les détails des commentaires du Comité d’approbation des subventions sur deux des subventions approuvées, celle du Monténégro et celle du Niger. Les commentaires détaillés concernant quatre autres subventions sont décrits dans un autre article du numéro 347 de la version anglaise de l’OFM.

ABSTRACT Of the $98 million approved by the Global Fund Board on 12 November 2018 for 14 country grants from 13 countries, $57.8 million went to countries in the Latin America and Caribbean region. This article repeats some of the overall grant approval information discussed in the first article on grant approvals in this issue, summarizes the LAC grants, and gives some detail on the Grant Approval Committee’s comments about the new grants for Belize, El Salvador, Panama and Paraguay.

ABSTRACT On 12 November 2018, the Global Fund Board approved funding in the amount of $98.0 million for 14 country grants from 13 countries. The Board also approved two multi-country grants valued at $12.5 million and awarded $13.6 million to fund interventions on the Register of Unfunded Quality Demand. This article provides information on the number of funding requests processed, numbers of grants approved, and details of the Grant Approvals Committee’s comments on two of the approved country grants: Montenegro and Niger. Details on comments for four other grants are described in another article in this issue.

RÉSUMÉ Le Niger a réalisé des avancées importantes face au VIH, à la tuberculose et au paludisme dans un « contexte d’intervention difficile », mais le Bureau de l’Inspecteur général, dans son tout premier audit ordinaire des subventions du Fonds mondial à ce pays, a constaté des problèmes au niveau de la chaîne d’approvisionnement, de l’utilisation des données, et de la couverture, de la qualité et de la coordination de la supervision.
