Global Fund partnership said to have saved 32 million lives up to end 2018
ABSTRACT
With the Sixth Replenishment Conference just a few weeks away, the Global Fund has released its Results Report 2019 containing data to the end of 2018. The results show that health programs supported by the Fund have resulted in 32 million lives saved. In addition, 18.9 million people are receiving antiretroviral treatment; 5.3 million people were treated for TB in 2018; and 131 million mosquito nets were distributed in 2018.

With just a week to go to its Fifth Replenishment Conference, the Global Fund has released more results. It estimates that programs the Fund has supported have already saved 20 million lives, and that this number should grow to 22 million by the end of 2016.

FORECAST OF UNCOMMITTED ASSETS INCREASES BY $373 MILLION
ABSTRACT
The Global Fund is forecasting that it will have uncommitted assets worth $1,428 million at the end of 2014, an increase of $373 million over what was forecast in May 2012. The Fund forecasts that it will have uncommitted assets worth $2,112 million by 30 June 2015. These amounts are exclusive of any money that the Global Fund decides to commit to new funding opportunities.
Chinese NGO Calls for a Freeze on Disbursements for HIV Grant -

Wan Yanhai, Director of the Beijing Aizhixing Institute, said that disbursements for China's HIV grant should be frozen for several reasons, including that the Chinese government has failed to create a favourable political and policy environment for social organisations involved in AIDS projects; and that the government has not been transparent about how grant funds have been spent.

The Global Fund has lifted the temporary freeze on disbursements for its grants to China. However, not all of the concerns raised by the Global Fund when it imposed the freeze on China's grants have been resolved. Discussions are continuing.
Disbursements to Zambia MoH Suspended Amid Allegations of Fraud; Change of PR Is Imminent

The Global Fund has suspended disbursements to the Ministry of Health of Zambia, which is the PR for several grants, because of strong evidence of fraudulent activities. Arrangements are being made to transfer management of the grants to the UNDP.

The Global Fund has resumed funding for four of the five suspended grants to the Philippines, with different PRs at the helm, and is expected to sign an agreement shortly with a new PR for the fifth grant.
