ABSTRACT
This GFO editorial is a special issue and therefore a tad shorter than our regular issues. We look at the upcoming Global Fund Committee meetings and then look more i-depth into certain areas of interest to our members such as the recent evaluation of the Challenging Operating Environments Policy and event in Mali.

À l’occasion de la 17ème réunion des Comités de l’audit et des finances, d’éthique et de gouvernance et de la stratégie du Fonds mondial, dont les membres se réuniront virtuellement, plusieurs sujets clés seront abordés. Toutefois, le thème le plus important est sans aucun doute l’avant-projet de la stratégie, or une heure quart seulement a été prévue pour en discuter. Est-ce réellement suffisant pour un sujet de cette importance ?

ABSTRACT
As the Global Fund 17th Audit & Finance, Ethics & Governance, and Strategy Committee meetings brings members together virtually, there are several key areas of interest up for discussion. However, undoubtedly the most important topic is the zero draft of the Strategy Narrative and only an hour and fifteen minutes is scheduled to discuss this. Is this really enough time for a topic of such magnitude?
Global Fund Board approves funding for first set of interventions on UQD register for 2017–2019 identified through portfolio optimization
ABSTRACT
The Global Fund Board has provided funding for some interventions from the Unfunded Quality Demand Register. The funding has been added to an existing malaria grant in Burundi and an existing TB grant in Philippines. This is the first set of interventions from a portfolio optimization exercise conducted by the Secretariat for the 2017–2019 allocation cycle. The additional resources come from funding designated by the Audit and Finance Committee as being available for portfolio optimization.
Appointments to Global Fund Board committees announced
ABSTRACT
The Board has announced appointments to its three standing committees for two-year terms that started on 11 May 2018. The Ethics and Governance Committee has been directed to undertake a review of the process for selecting the leadership and members of the committees.
