THE GLOBAL FUND BOARD APPROVED GRANTS COVERING 100% OF THE FUNDING ALLOCATED FOR 2014-2016
ABSTRACT
The Global Fund Board approved grants for 100% of the allocated funding by the end of the 2014-2016 allocation period. This article provides some end-of-the-funding cycle information on incentive funding, above allocation requests, grant efficiencies, domestic funding and the review of concept notes. It also provides information on the results of surveys conducted among members of the Technical Review Panel (TRP) and participants in country dialogues.
GLOBAL FUND RELEASES CASE STUDIES ON COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

A report released by the Global Fund, entitled How We Engage: Stories of Effective Community Engagement on AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, contains eight case studies. This article provides information on five of the case studies – i.e. the studies that were country-specific.

ABSTRACT
As the 2017-2019 funding cycle approaches, civil society in Zimbabwe are being proactive. Having kicked off consultations already, emerging themes include rolling out universal test-and-treat for HIV, expanding access to pre-exposure prophylaxis and other new prevention technologies, and elevating key populations and community responses. The country is likely to submit its next funding request to the Global Fund in the 23 May 2017 window.

The Global Fund Board has approved $205 million for 14 country and four regional grants. This article provides a breakdown. It also describes the domestic financing commitments from countries submitting disease-related concept notes.

ABSTRACT
In June 2016, the Global Fund approved $179 million in funding for 13 country grants, of which $80 million represented new money. Lesotho and Nepal received the largest awards. An additional $3.2 million was awarded to a regional grant in Central America.

UPDATE ON THE SECOND WAVE OF REGIONAL CONCEPT NOTES
ABSTRACT
Following a review of expressions of interest for the second wave of regional concept notes, 15 applicants were invited to submit notes. The Technical Review Panel recommended that all 15 notes proceed to grant-making. This article summarizes the findings of an analysis of the process use for the second wave. The analysis was undertaken by ICASO and the International HIV/AIDS Alliance.
FUNDING OF $164 MILLION APPROVED FOR 13 GRANTS IN 11 COUNTRIES
ABSTRACT
In May 2016, the Global Fund Board approved another tranche of funding from the 2014-2016 allocations. In addition, funding was awarded to a shortened grant to permit services to continue to be provided through to the end of 2017.
