What C19RM reveals about our impact on health systems
ABSTRACT
The response to COVID-19 in countries with limited resources has highlighted shortcomings in terms of surveillance, roll-out of community-based testing, and technical expertise. The Global Fund is not equipped to provide an emergency response because its tools and procedures are too cumbersome. It can, however, provide a meaningful contribution in terms of the epidemic emergency preparedness of health systems in beneficiary countries in order to bring together the three pillars: eliminating the three diseases; strengthening health systems; and epidemic emergency preparedness.
