ABSTRACT David Garmaise, who had been a writer, editor, and senior analyst for the Global Fund Observer since 2003, passed away on April 19 after a long and bravely-borne illness. In this special edition of the GFO, Aidspan and GFO founder Bernard Rivers, Aidspan’s Executive Director Ida Hakizinka, former Aidspan ED Kate Macintyre, and current GFO Acting Editor Adèle Sulcas pay tribute to David’s contribution to the Global Fund community, and to David as a person – an admired and respected colleague and friend.
