The Global Fund’s partnership with Heineken was a hot topic of conversation the past couple of weeks on blogs and in the Twittersphere. A member of the Global Fund Board from Norway announced that he was opposed to the partnership. “The Norwegian authorities cannot support this type of partnership with an alcohol company. This is not compatible with our development policy,” he said.
Challenges remain in the "inherent structure and paradigm" of the Global Fund, study says
ABSTRACT
A study just published in the journal Globalization and Health says that despite the reforms associated with the new funding model, challenges remain in the “inherent structure and paradigm” of the Global Fund. The lack of country offices has many negative downstream effects, the researchers said, including having to rely on in-country partners, and ineffective coordination of in-country activities. Most of the interviews conducted for the study were done in late 2013.
GLOBAL FUND GETS TOP MARKS IN PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT
ABSTRACT
An assessment conducted by the Multilateral Organisation Performance Assessment Network, a group of 18 donor countries, concluded that the Global Fund provides strong leadership and “fully meets the requirements of an effective multilateral organization.” The assessment also identified areas requiring improvements.
