‘REALITIES ON THE GROUND’ FOR ASIA-PACIFIC CIVIL SOCIETY’S ENGAGEMENT IN GLOBAL FUND ‘COUNTRY DIALOGUE’ ARE IMPROVING
ABSTRACT
The Asia Pacific Council of AIDS Service Organizations has published a report based on a survey across seven countries in the region, examining the degree and nature of civil society and community engagement in the Global Fund’s country dialogue processes. The report notes overall improvement compared to 2015, but highlights the persistence of some of the same issues, and makes recommendations to address them.
Global Fund Board approves $36 million for country and multicountry grants
ABSTRACT
In the latest batch of funding approvals from the Global Fund Board, three country grants and two multicountry grants were awarded $36 million. The Board also approved funding in the amount of $66 million for interventions on the Unfunded Quality Demand Register. Some of the funding for the UQD interventions came from private sector contributions.
Global Fund Board approves another $98 million in country grants from the 2017–2019 allocations
ABSTRACT
On 12 November 2018, the Global Fund Board approved funding in the amount of $98.0 million for 14 country grants from 13 countries. The Board also approved two multi-country grants valued at $12.5 million and awarded $13.6 million to fund interventions on the Register of Unfunded Quality Demand. This article provides information on the number of funding requests processed, numbers of grants approved, and details of the Grant Approvals Committee’s comments on two of the approved country grants: Montenegro and Niger. Details on comments for four other grants are described in another article in this issue.

Global Fund Is Reviewing Proposed New Key Performance Indicators
ABSTRACT
Proposed new key performance indicators were presented to the Global Fund Board for review and discussion at the Board meeting in Sri Lanka. The KPIs are designed to help the Board evaluate grant and Secretariat performance at a high level. The Board decided that the proposed KPIs need more work. A final decision is not expected before the Board meeting in November 2013.
OIG RELEASES AUDIT REPORT ON 12 GRANTS IN SRI LANKA
ABSTRACT
On 31 October 2011, the Office of the Inspector General released the final report of an audit on 12 grants in Sri Lanka, involving three principal recipients. The OIG identified what it called "losses" of $2.6 million. Two of the PRs disputed some of the OIG's findings.
Board Rejects Request for Phase 2 Funding from Sri Lanka
ABSTRACT
For the first time in more than three years, the Global Fund has declined to approve a Phase 2 funding application. The Board rejected a request for Phase 2 of a Round 6 TB grant in Sri Lanka.. Some Board members opposed the decision.
Global Fund is Flexible With Countries Affected by Tsunami
ABSTRACT
The Global Fund has informed Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Thailand and India, the four countries most seriously affected by the December 26 tsunami, that it is willing to be flexible in how their grants are implemented.
