COVID-19 VACCINATION IN AFRICA: FROM HOPE TO REALITY
ABSTRACT
With the roll-out of the COVAX Facility giving low-income countries access to COVID-19 vaccines, developing countries, particularly in Africa, face many financial, logistical and programming challenges in accessing the vaccine doses they require. This article outlines these challenges, as well as African countries' individual strategies and the collective ones adopted by the African Union to find solutions.

OIG AUDIT SHOWS COST SAVINGS FROM GLOBAL HEALTH CAMPUS PROJECT EXCEED EXPECTATIONS
ABSTRACT
The Office of the Inspector General conducted for the first time an audit of the Geneva Global Health Campus’s management processes. The audit rated the Global Health Campus project’s management of key risks as ‘effective’, while rating the overall management process as ‘partially effective’. The Global Health Campus has been home to the Global Fund, Unitaid, Stop TB and the RBM Partnership since March 2018. The Global Health Campus ‘project’ was designed to facilitate shared cost savings across the organizations, and to enhance operational collaboration between the global health partners.

The Global Fund explores innovative finance instruments to help unlock financial flows from private and public sources
ABSTRACT
Aidspan is taking a deeper look at the Global Fund’s different innovative financing instruments over a series of three articles, following the Global Fund’s opening of a formal consultation process earlier this year to develop a more structured approach to innovative finance within the organization. This third article describes innovation and cost-reduction incentive mechanisms and discusses the pros and cons of instruments, such as challenge funds, advance market commitments and seed funding.
Gavi and the Global Fund: Collaborating for impact and efficiency
ABSTRACT
Now that the respective headquarters of Gavi and the Global Fund will be located together in the Global Health Campus in Geneva, cooperation between the two organizations will intensify. There has already been considerable collaboration between the two organizations. Donors are supportive of joint activities among global health funds.

GLOBAL FUND UNTOUCHED BY TRUMP’S PROPOSED BUDGET CUTS
ABSTRACT
President Trump has sent Congress a budget blueprint that calls for severe cuts to health, foreign assistance and the State Department, but that spares the Global Fund, PEPFAR, Gavi and the U.S. President’s Malaria Initiative. The blueprint is a statement of the Trump administration’s priorities. The final budget adopted by Congress is expected to look quite different.
