MARKING WORLD MALARIA DAY AMID THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC
ABSTRACT World Malaria Day, the annual opportunity to highlight global efforts to control malaria, occurred on April 25, during a global peak in the COVID-19 pandemic. The commemoration was largely obscured by coronavirus-related activities and news. Experts say that COVID-19 may lead to higher than usual malaria death rates because of the shifts in countries’ public-health focus, to dealing with the coronavirus.
